Violin Concerto (2023), commissioned by Associação Arte no Tempo (Aveiro). Premiered in Aveiro, Teatro Aveirense on May 26th 2023 (Reencontros de Música Contemporânea International Music Festival) by José Pereira, Pedro Neves and Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa.


From the Journal of Delacroix (2023), for two percussion players. Commissioned by Associação Arte no Tempo. Premiered in Aveiro, Teatro Aveirense on May 18th 2023 (Reencontros de Música Contemporânea International Music Festival) by Kuniko Kato and Nuno Aroso.


Corridinho-Chorinho (2022), for solo Clarinet. Commissioned by Associação Arttalents, Portugal.


Suite Pentolítica (2022), for Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Cello and Piano. Commissioned by Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensemble. Premiered in Casa da Música Porto, on May 22nd 2022. Published by MIC.PT 2023.


O Homem dos Sonhos (2020), a chamber opera based on a homonym novel by Mário de Sá-Carneiro (in English: The Man of Dreams). Commissioned by Companhia de Ópera do Castelo (Lisbon). Premiered in Teatro Municipal São Luís (Lisbon) with Catarina Molder, Christian Lujan, Ian Wierzba and Ensemble MPMP on February 4th 2022. Published by MIC.PT 2023. 


Circumnavigare (2019) for violoncello and orchestra. Commissioned by Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa. Premiered in Lisbon on October 5th 2019, with Filipe Quaresma and Pedro Amaral. Published by mic.pt 2023. CD available by Metropolitana /Imprensa Nacional Casa da Moeda 2019.

Lost (2018) for recorder and electronics. Commissioned by Associação Arte no Tempo (Aveiro, Portugal). Premiered in Lisbon at the National Conservatory on May 26th 2018.

Travelling (2018) for guitar duo. Commissioned by Associação Arte no Tempo. Premiered in Aveiro on March 23th 2019 during the Reencontros de Música Contemporânea International Music Festival. Published by AVA Musical Editions 2021.

La barque (2018) for cello and doublebass. Commissioned by the Portuguese chamber music group Duo Contracello. Premiered in Madrid on December 18th 2018 at the Universidad Autónoma. Published by AVA Musical Editions 2021. On CD by MPMP 2019.

Reconditarmonia (2017) for solo trombone. A tribute to Constança Capdeville, organized by Universidade Nova de Lisboa. Premiered on October 8th, 2017. 


Quatro Fantasmas (2017) for piano/left hand. Commissioned by Festival Internacional Música da Primavera of Viseu (Portugal). Premiered in Teatro Viriato, Viseu, by André Roque Cardoso on April 24th, 2017. Published by AVA Musical Editions 2018. CD available at RODAMUSIC.PT 2022.

Recifes (2016) for solo violin. Premiered by Vítor Vieira (from the Matosinhos String Quartet) at the University of Aveiro on November 16th, within the Festivais de Outono edition of 2019.

Dance of the Fool (2016) for solo percussion. Commissioned by the Cistermúsica Festival of Alcobaça (Portugal). The premiere took place in Alcobaça on July 23rd of 2016, by Manuel Campos.

Paysages (2015), for recorder and pianoforte. Commissioned by Helena Marinho and António Carrilho (Borealis Ensemble). Premiered at Palácio Foz (Lisbon) on March 9th, 2015. Published by AVA Musical Editions 2021. CD by MPMP 2015.

Lumine clarescet (2015), for chamber choir with 18 mixed voices. Commissioned by Les Éléments (Toulouse). Premiered at the Saint-Étienne Cathedral of Toulouse on May 5th, 2015. On CD by MIRARE 2018.

Audivi vocem (2015), for chamber orchestra. Commissioned by Orquestra XXI (Portugal). The première took place in Madrid, Cientro Cultural Conde-Duque, on December 16th 2015 under Dinis Sousa.

Elegias Chinesas (2014) for soprano and chamber orchestra, upon poems by Camilo Pessanha. Commissioned by Casa da Música, Porto for the Remix Ensemble, with Yeree Suh. Premiered in Casa da Música, Porto, on November 18th, 2014.

A Wilde Mass (2014), for 12 voices and organ, upon words by Oscar Wilde. Commissioned by Ensemble Musicatreize. Premiered in Marseilles, June 30th , 2014. Further concerts in Avignon, Riga and New York.

Yemaya’s Song (2013) for Toy Piano, two Kalimbas and Bongos. Dedicated to Drumming Grupo de Percussão (Porto). Published by AVA Musical Editions 2021. On CD: MARES, MPMP 2016

Quatro Canções para Inês (2013) for soprano and piano, upon poems by Bocage and Natália Correia. Commissioned by Cistermúsica Festival (Alcobaça, Portugal). Premiered in Alcobaça, July 17th, 2013. Published by AVA Musical Editions 2020.


Música de cena para Santo Antão (2012) for Flute/Picc, Clarinet, Piano, Violin and Cello. Commissioned by Sond’Ar-te Electric Ensemble. Premiered in Cascais, Portugal on June 1st, 2012. Published by MIC.PT 2012. On CD by MISO RECORDS 2013.

Six mélodies japonaises (2011) for or Mezzo Soprano, Guitar, Saxophone and Piano. Commissioned by Síntese – Grupo de Música Contemprânea (Guarda, Portugal). Premiered in Guarda on November 5th 2011.

Chants de Teika (2011), a song cycle for Mezzo Soprano and Piano upon old Japanese poems by Teika. Premiered by Inês Simões and Daniel Godinho (Duo Tágide) in Ocukto d’Ajuda (Lisbon) on October 22nd 2019.

Mares I/Falésias, Mares II/Cavalos Marinhos, Mares III/Ilha de Moçambique (2008-9)
A three part piece upon maritime impressions, for 6 percussionists. Work dedicated to the Drumming Percusssion Group. Premiere: Festival Dias da Música Portuguesa, CCB, Lisbon, on July 13th 2008. CD MARES by MPMP 2016.

Tombeau de Marie Stuart (2007) for chamber orchestra, co-commissioned by Casa da Música Porto and Klangforum Wien. Premiered in Casa da Música on November 29th 2007 by Klangforum. Published by FERMATA EDITORA Porto 2008. CD Pas-de-Deux by PORTUGALER 2010.

Cassandra’s Songs (2007), three songs for Soprano and Piano upon a free adaptation from The Trojans, by Euripides. Premiered in Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal, on February 8th 2008. Avaliable on CD by NUMÉRICA 2008.

A boca (2006), for solo bassoon, commissioned by Casa da Música Porto, for the Consequenza Project. Premiered in Strasbourg on September 2006 by Roberto Erculiani (Remix Ensemble) during the Musica Festival of Strasbourg. Score published by AVA Musical Editions 2018. As Feiticeiras / Les Sorcières (2005/6) a musical tale commissioned by the Ensemble Musicatreize (Marseilles), upon an original poem by Maria Teresa Horta. Premiered in March 2006 in Marseilles, at the Théâtre Les Bernardines. Production awarded with a Victoire de la Musique (Radio France 2007). On CD by ACTES-SUD 2006.

Serei só eu... (2005) For Soprano and String Quartet, upon Richard Wagner’s text of Isolde’s Liebestod (translated by Jorge de Sena). Premiere: Arnold Schoenberg Center, Vienna, on December 21st 2005. Commissioned by Ensemble Wiener Collage (Vienna).

Cicuta (2005) a song cycle for Soprano and Piano, upon poems by Maria Teresa Horta. Commissioned by Casa da Música Porto. Premiered in Porto on November 22nd 2005. Score by AVA Musical Editions 2020. On CD: Pas-de-Deux PORTUGALER 2010.

Naishapur (2003) seven songs for Baritone, Piano and percussion, upon poems by Omar Khayam / Fernando Pessoa. Premiere: Jeunesses Festival, Palais Clam-Gallas, Vienna on October 10th 2003. Commissioned by the Jeunesses Festival of Austria. 


Deep Water Music (2002) for Drum Quartet. Premiere: Viriato Theatre of Viseu (Portugal) on December 13th 2002. Work commissioned by the Drumming Grupo de Percussão. On CD:  MARES by MPMP 2016. Score by AVA Musical Editions 2022.

Zwei Kleinbauern Lieder (2002) two songs for Tenor and Piano, upon poems by Raphael Urweider. Premiere: Iberia Festiva, Zurich Musikhochschule on September 16th 2002. Commissioned by the Musikhochschule of Zurich/Winterthur for Marcel Beekman (Tenor) and Hans Adolfsen (piano).

...pour les temps glissants... (2002) for Violin, Viola, Cello and Bass Clarinet. Premiere: Serralves Museum (Porto), 2002. Commissioned by Grupo de Música Contemporânea de Lisboa.

Quatrains du Secret Estude (2002) for a capella chorus upon texts by Nostradamus. First performance: Zwolle, The Netherlands, on March 23rd 2004. Commissioned by the Nederlands Kamerkoor (Amsterdam). Score published by FERMATA EDITORA Porto 2004. 


Altro (2001) four pieces for Piccolo and Piano. Commissioned by Instituto Português das Artes do Espectáculo for the creation of new repertoires for Flute. Recorded by Jorge Correia (Piccolo Flute) and Helena Marinho (piano) for NUMÉRICA 2001.

Melodias Estranhas (2000/2001) a chamber opera with a libretto by Gerrit Komrij. Premiere: Stadsschouwburg, Rotterdam, December 12th 2001. Commissioned by the cities of Porto and Rotterdam, European Capitals of Culture in 2001. Score by FERMATA EDITORA Porto 2001. 


What the Mountain and the Afternoon said (1999) for Piano, for Marino Formenti (at the time member of Klangforum Wien),who premiered this piece at the Los Angeles County Museum in 2000. Score by AVA Musical Editions 2018.

Non altro (1999) five songs for Tenor, Piano and electronics, upon texts and poems by Michelangelo. Premiere: Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, February 18th 2000. Commissioned by Casa de Mateus Foundation (Vila Real, Portugal). Published by MIC.PT 2012.

O Céu sob as Entranhas (1996) a song cycle for Baritone, Violin, Cello and Piano, upon poems by Luís Miguel Nava. Premiere: National Theatre of São Carlos, Lisbon, June 25th 1996. Commissioned by the Portuguese National Radio (RDP Antena 2).


A Ascensão de Ícaro / The Ascent of Icarus (1994/95) a Piano Concerto, commissioned by the International Music Festival of Macau. First performance: October 25th 1996, with Jay Gottlieb (Piano) and the Symphony Orchestra of the National Opera and Ballet of China, under Ronald Zollman. Published by MIC.PT 2012.

Angkor (1995) a dance suite for Viola and Piano. Premiered during the Gaudeamus Week, De Ijsbreker, September 4th 1995 in Amsterdam by members of the KammerensembleN (Stockholm). Score by AVA Musical Editions 2018. On CD: NUMÉRICA 2004.

Cânticos para a Remissão da Fome / Songs the Remission of Hunger (1990/94) a chamber opera upon a libretto by Paulo Lages and António Chagas Rosa, based on Margarethe Buber-Neumann’s book ‘Milena’. Premiere: Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisboa, September 7th 1994. Commissioned by the ACARTE Department of the Gulbenkian Foundation.


Songs of the Beginning (1992) for Soprano and Piano upon texts by Lao-Tze. Premiere: De Ijsbreker, Amsterdam, 1992. (Awarded by the Dutch Composers Association). Score by Donemus Amsterdam 1996.


Antinous (1990/92) three pieces for large orchestra and String Quartet. Premiere: Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, on May 7th 1994. With the Chilingirian String Quartet and the Gulbenkian Orchestra under Lucas Pfaff. 


Meghasandesham (1989/90, rev.1992) for String Quartet and Harpsichord. Premiere: Gulbenkian Foundation, Lisbon, 1990, with the Capela String Quartet and the composer himself.


Tres Gacelas (1988/89) three songs for Mezzo Soprano and chamber orchestra, upon poems by F. Garcia Lorca. Premiered in Lisbon on May 11th 1990, with the Gulbenkian Orchestra (14th Festival of Contemporary Music), Sharon Cooper (Mezzo Soprano) under Michel Tabachnik.


Piano Sonata (1987) premiered by the composer in Mach 21st 1988 within the “The Unanswered Question” festival. De Ijsbreker, Amsterdam. Score by AVA Musical Editions 2018. On CD: NUMÉRICA 1999 with Nancy Lee Harper.
